Community

O U R   C O M M U N I T Y

We love our community so much! Without our neighbours, friends, family, teachers, coaches, doctors, nurses, fellow small business owners and more, we wouldn't be who or where we are today!

We are truly beyond thankful to be able to make a small impact in our local communities and across the country, over the past year we have been able to donate:

  • over $94,600.00 CAD of clothing/merchandise donations
  • over $53,300.00 CAD of monetary donations

Because we're so passionate about people, we're devoted to giving back to the families in our community as much as we can.

Some of the ways we do that are through...

The Fraser Valley Foster Parent Association

In May of 2021 our team packed 30 beach bags for foster kids in BC through the Fraser Valley Foster Parents Association. As a foster parent myself it was important to me to support these kids and do what we can to make them feel loved and included. The Fraser Valley Foster Parents Association provides advocacy, support, and education to help foster parents and their families thrive! You can find out more information on their efforts by visiting fraservalleyfosterparents.org.

Plastic Oceans Foundation Canada

In April of 2021, we supported Plastic Oceans Foundation Canada in honour of earth day. For every $75 spent on our website on earth day we sponsored 1km of ocean and shoreline clean up in Canada., In partnership with our amazing customers we we're able to donate a total of $26,100 to clean up 1,044km of Canadian shorelines! Plastic Oceans Canada’s mission is to inform, inspire and incite action to solve plastic pollution through its four pillars; activism, advocacy, education and science. You can find out more information on their efforts by visiting plasticoceans.ca.

Surrey Memorial Hospital Forensics Nursing Service Team

For the past year we have made donations to the forensic nursing service team sending bundles of clothing and blankets. Patients who are seen by the Forensic Nursing Program will often be asked to surrender their clothing for evidence. These donations allow the staff to provide patients with comfortable clothes to leave with. You can find out more information by visiting www.surreyhospitalsfoundation.com

Fabric Donations

Like any clothing business, over the years we have found ourselves with a small excess of fabric after our season is over. Not wanting this excess to go to waste we have committed to donating any excess fabric to local design schools, sewing workshops and highs school sewing classes.

Through our devoted team we have also been able to support and donate to a number of different churches and organizations to support our local communities as well as low income communities in Mexico, The Philippines, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

During the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic we made and donated over 3,000 non-medical fabric masks to local medical offices, hospitals, homeless shelters, midwiferies, coffee shops, law enforcement teams and more.

We could not have done this without our amazing, generous, giving, J&L community. Thank you, it is because of you we are able to make a difference.
