OUR FABRICS
GOOD CLOTHES START WITH GOOD CHOICES.
At Jax & Lennon, we’ve always believed that what goes into our clothing matters just as much as what it looks like.
The fibres we choose. The way they’re processed. The people who make them. The impact they leave behind.
Every decision matters.
We know the fashion industry has a significant impact on our planet, and we believe clothing companies have a responsibility to do better.
That’s why we’ve made thoughtful fabric choices a priority from the beginning, focusing on natural and plant-derived fibres, responsible production practices, and creating clothing that’s designed to last.
We’re not perfect. No clothing company is.
But we’re committed to making better choices wherever we can, continuing to learn, and never losing sight of why those choices matter.
For our children. For the people who make our clothing. And for the world they’ll grow up in.
OUR SIGNATURE FABRIC
WE DIDN’T JUST CHOOSE OUR FABRIC. WE CREATED IT.
66% Rayon from Bamboo | 28% Organic Cotton | 6% Spandex
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Certified
Our signature bamboo and organic cotton blend is the heart of Jax & Lennon.
It’s the fabric that built our brand, and one we’ve spent years developing, refining, and perfecting.
Unlike fabrics selected from a supplier’s existing collection, our signature blend was developed exclusively for J&L to meet our own standards for softness, comfort, stretch, and durability.
And we’re particular. Very particular. 😂
We’ve adjusted and refined it over the years because creating clothing that feels incredible is one thing, but creating clothing that continues to feel incredible after countless wears and washes is another.
We wanted a fabric that would move with growing children, feel gentle against their skin, and hold up to the adventures of everyday life.
So we created one.
And while our collections continue to grow and evolve, our signature fabric remains the foundation of what we do.
Years in the making. Exclusively ours.
WHY THIS BLEND?
RAYON FROM BAMBOO — 66%
Bamboo is a fast-growing plant, and its cellulose can be processed into an incredibly soft, smooth textile fibre.
We love bamboo-derived rayon for its beautiful drape, comfortable feel, and the softness our customers have come to know J&L for.
ORGANIC COTTON — 28%
Organic cotton is grown according to agricultural standards that restrict certain synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.
We incorporate organic cotton into our signature blend for its familiar softness, versatility, and comfort.
SPANDEX — 6%
A little stretch makes a big difference.
Spandex helps our garments move comfortably with the body and recover their shape, supporting the flexible fits we’re known for.
We prioritize natural and plant-derived fibres wherever possible while using small amounts of stretch fibres when they serve an important purpose.
THE FABRICS WE LOVE
A LITTLE VARIETY. A LOT OF INTENTION.
Our signature fabric might be our bread and butter, but we also love incorporating other thoughtfully selected textiles into our collections.
These complementary fabrics are sourced through local suppliers and chosen to introduce different textures, structures, and styles.
Each one brings something a little different to the collection.
TENCEL™ MODAL
90% TENCEL™ Modal | 10% Spandex
Softness with a little extra stretch.
TENCEL™ Modal is a branded fibre produced by Lenzing from wood-based cellulose.
It’s known for its smooth feel, softness, and beautiful drape.
Blended with spandex, it creates a comfortable, flexible fabric that moves with the body.
We love incorporating TENCEL™ Modal into pieces where softness, stretch, and fluid movement are especially important.
WHY WE LOVE IT: Softness, flexibility, and beautiful drape.
100% LINEN
Naturally beautiful. Effortlessly timeless.
Made from the flax plant, linen is a natural fibre known for its strength, breathability, and distinctive texture.
It has that relaxed, lived-in look we love and often becomes softer with washing and wear.
And yes, it wrinkles.
We happen to think that’s part of its charm.
Linen brings a completely different feel to our collections, allowing us to create pieces that are comfortable, timeless, and beautifully simple.
WHY WE LOVE IT: Natural fibres, breathability, strength, and timeless texture.
HEMP & ORGANIC COTTON
55% Hemp | 45% Organic Cotton
Strong by nature. Softened by design.
Hemp is a natural plant fibre known for its strength, durability, and beautiful texture.
Blending it with organic cotton creates a fabric that combines hemp’s distinctive character with cotton’s softness and comfort.
We love using this blend to introduce natural texture and structure into our collections.
It’s a reminder that beautiful clothing doesn’t need to be complicated.
WHY WE LOVE IT: Natural fibres, strength, texture, and durability.
MORE THAN JUST SOFT FABRIC
WHAT GOES INTO OUR FABRICS MATTERS.
Choosing the right fibres is only part of the story.
How those fibres are processed, dyed, and turned into finished textiles matters too.
We work to make thoughtful decisions throughout fabric development and sourcing, considering not just how our clothing feels, but how it’s made.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 CERTIFICATION
Our fabric is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified.
This independent certification means the certified textile has been tested for a range of harmful substances against established safety limits.
For a brand creating clothing for babies and children, that’s something we take seriously.
We want parents to feel confident about the materials they’re choosing for their families.
WATER-BASED DYES
We use water-based dyeing processes in our fabric production.
We’re intentional about the colours and prints we create, but we also care about the processes involved in bringing those designs to life.
The chemicals, water, and resources used during textile production matter, and we believe it’s important to keep asking questions and looking for better ways of doing things.
WATER RECYCLING
Water is an important resource in textile manufacturing.
Our fabric production incorporates water recycling during processing, helping reduce the need for fresh water at certain stages.
We believe responsible manufacturing means paying attention to more than just the finished product.
It means considering the resources used along the way.
NATURAL & PLANT-DERIVED FIBRES FIRST
Whenever practical, we prioritize natural and plant-derived fibres over fabrics made predominantly from fossil-fuel-derived synthetics.
That includes organic cotton, linen, hemp, bamboo-derived rayon, and TENCEL™ Modal.
We also recognize that plant-derived doesn’t automatically mean environmentally harmless.
Processing methods, dyeing, manufacturing, and the lifespan of the finished garment all contribute to its overall impact.
That’s why we look beyond the fibre name and consider the bigger picture.
MADE WITH PEOPLE IN MIND
BECAUSE HOW IT’S MADE MATTERS TOO.
We believe responsible clothing production should consider the people behind every garment.
The people who grow and process fibres. The people who knit, cut, and sew our clothing. And the families who eventually wear it.
The vast majority of J&L clothing is proudly manufactured in Canada, allowing us to maintain close relationships with our manufacturing partners and stay involved in the development of our products.
We also work with select international manufacturers when needed.
Wherever our clothing is made, our goal is to work with partners who understand our expectations for quality, craftsmanship, and responsible production.
Because beautiful clothing should never come at the expense of the people making it.
BUY LESS. WEAR LONGER.
SUSTAINABILITY DOESN’T END WHEN A GARMENT IS FINISHED.
One of the most important things we can do is create clothing people want to keep wearing.
Not just for one season.
Not just until the next growth spurt.
But for as long as possible.
That’s why we put so much thought into fabric quality, garment construction, and the adaptable fits J&L has become known for.
We’ve seen our clothing worn by multiple siblings, passed between cousins, and loved by families for years.
And that’s exactly what we hope for.
Because when clothing is made well, cared for, and passed along, it has the opportunity to serve more than one child.
Fewer forgotten clothes. More pieces worth keeping.
ALWAYS LEARNING. ALWAYS IMPROVING.
We’re proud of the choices we’ve made, but we’re also realistic.
No fabric is without environmental impact.
No manufacturing process is completely resource-free.
And building a more responsible clothing company isn’t something you finish.
It’s something you keep working toward.
As we grow, we’ll continue looking for ways to improve our materials, manufacturing practices, and the longevity of the clothing we create.
We may not always get everything perfect.
But we’ll always care enough to keep trying.
Because we’re not just making clothing for today. We’re thinking about the world our children will inherit tomorrow.
With love,
Kelsie & the J&L Team 🤎
